About Us
The Alberta Band Association is a non-profit provincial service organization whose mission is to promote and develop the musical, educational and cultural value of bands and band music in Alberta. The ABA is an affiliate member of the Canadian Band Association which continues these activities at the national level. It is an organization that enables its members to work together toward the improvement and proliferation of band and band music in Alberta. This is done by the provision of programs, services and professional development opportunities.
Our membership roster includes school, community and military band directors, professional composers and clinicians, administrators, students, parents, and members of the general public. Institution memberships are also available to bands, booster groups, parent support groups, educational institutions and corporations.
The Alberta Band Association acts as the voice for band in Alberta, and works to raise the profile of band in the province. By informing leaders and institutions of desired change and development, the ABA works toward continued and improved support of instrumental music (band) education.
