Q. What ages are accepted into the Alberta Jazz Ensemble?
A. The AJE is open to high school aged (grades 9-12) musicians, as well as those who have graduated grade 12 withing 1 year of the program dates.
Q. How many years of experience on an instrument is required?
A. Students with at least three years of experience on their instrument as well as experience in jazz band may audition.
Q. How much does it cost to participate?
A. The registration fee is $299 and includes rehearsals, music, a t-shirt, and one meal.
Q. Where is the Alberta Jazz Ensemble held?
A. The 2026 residency will be held February 12-14, 206 at central Memorial High School in Calgary
Q. Are students accepted by recommendation or audition?
A. Teachers may recommend their students audition for the ensemble. Ultimate selection will be based on auditions.
